A Place to Work
“Our vision is of a place where people get the jobs and training to which they aspire”
By 2010, the Community Development Trust aims to make the 3 Estates a place where working and learning are accepted as a natural part of everyday life and where everyone can get the job they want.
That means providing better access to information and advice about work and training. It also means making the routes into work easier for residents, and making employer perceptions and recruitment practices more inclusive.
Projects
UHB Transport
From 01.10.2007 to 01.10.2007
SWIFTLINK BOOKING NUMBER: 0121 771 1520
Call between 9am to 4pm, or leave a message on the answer machine outside of these hours and someone will call you back.
The project offers a service between the Kings Norton 3 Estates and University
Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) located at Selly Oak. This is to allow equality of access for Kings Norton 3 Estates residents to the services of UHB.
Although UHB is working towards offering at least one outpatient clinic in Kings Norton, this will not implement improved access to the many clinics and other services that a local large acute NHS Trust like UHB provides.
Residents of Kings Norton 3 Estates provided anecdotal evidence to the Kings Norton NDC Health Theme Group that because of the current number of buses they need to catch to reach UHB and the associated costs, they have not attended appointments at UHB. As Kings Norton 3 Estates is recognised as deprived area with regard to economics and health inequalities, the access to UHB needs to be improved as a priority.
It is hoped that a pilot will provide useful evidence to influence future transport planning.
